Care

Living with your pieces.

Practical, unhurried guidance from the atelier — for the years ahead.

01 — Daily wear

Wear them often, gently

Gold-tone jewellery is gentler than its reputation suggests — but it does ask for small rituals. Our pieces are brass with a polished gold-tone finish, hand-set with crystals, faux pearls and cabochons. A little daily thought will keep every piece looking as new as the day it left the bench.

  • Remove before swimming, bathing, or exercising — chlorine and saltwater can dull the finish over time.
  • Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, and hairspray — apply these first, then put your jewellery on.
  • Our pieces are designed for everyday wear, but a little care goes a long way.
  • Take rings off before hand-washing, gardening, or lifting weights.

02 — Cleaning at home

A soft cloth is enough

Gold-tone finishes prefer a light touch. Avoid silver dips, jewellery cleaners, chemical polishes and ultrasonic baths — they strip the finish and loosen set stones.

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear — this removes oils and keeps the finish bright.
  • For deeper cleaning, use a barely-damp soft cloth (water only, no jewellery cleaner or chemicals).
  • Dry thoroughly before storing.
  • For set stones, wipe around the setting only — never soak.

03 — Storing your pieces

Dry, dark, and apart

Gold-tone finishes can scratch when stored together, and humid air is the fastest way to a tired piece. A breathable cotton pouch or lined jewellery box is ideal.

  • Keep each piece in its own pouch or soft compartment.
  • Avoid humid spaces — bathrooms are the worst place for jewellery.
  • Keep chains laid flat to prevent kinks and tangling.
  • Travel with the original pouch, or a soft cloth folded around each piece.

04 — Stones & pearls

The softer materials

Crystals, faux pearls, cubic zirconia and resin cabochons are softer and more porous than the metal that holds them. A little extra care keeps them at their best.

  • Wipe stones with a dry cloth after wear — never soak set stones.
  • Keep pieces away from perfume, alcohol, and prolonged sun.
  • Have set stones checked every year or two — settings loosen quietly with wear.
  • When in doubt, write to the studio. We are always happy to look.

05 — Repairs & resizing

A piece, for as long as you wear it

We offer re-plating and stone-setting repairs for every piece we make — for as long as you own it. If a stone loosens or the finish softens with wear, write to us and we will help.

  • Email hello@anreena.co.uk with a photo and short description.
  • We'll reply with instructions for sending the piece back to the studio.
  • Most repairs are completed within two to three weeks at the bench.
  • Re-plating restores the gold-tone finish to its original warmth — recommended every couple of years with daily wear.
